2017-2018 PTA Reflections Arts Program

The 2017-2018 PTA Reflections Arts Program is an opportunity for your Orange Hunt Elementary student to design and submit original art work (in a variety of categories) with a chance to win prizes and awards.

Theme: Within Reach!

Deadline: Thursday, October 5th

You and your student can view a short video about the program as well as find the entry form and official rules here: http://www.vapta.org/arts-and-education/reflections

An entry form MUST accompany each submission. Click here for an entry form (along with the official rules), which you can print and submit with the art work.

Enter your student's submission in the front office in the box marked REFLECTIONS or contact Shelley Rakip to arrange a drop off.

Odyssey of the Mind Informational Meeting Tuesday, Sept. 26

There is an informational meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 26 for those interested in joining OHES' Odyssey of the Mind (OM). The meeting will take place at Burke Centre Library from 7PM - 8PM in Room 116.

We will discuss what's involved in being a part of an Odyssey of the Mind team, putting together teams and developing a timeline leading to the Tournament.

To participate, visit www.giantfood.com and select Savings & Rewards. Follow the prompts to create your online account and choose Orange Hunt as your school selection. You will need your 12-digit Giant Card number and the School ID # above.

eScript is an important part of our fundraising program. Log on to www.eScrip.com and enter our School ID# 6547037 to register your Safeway grocery card number. A percentage of purchases will automatically be contributed to OHES!

Volunteers Needed

We are in search of volunteers for two low-impact PTA jobs:

Community Fundraising - manage accounts that contribute funds from Safeway, Giant, and Amazon. All accounts are already set up and job would include reporting progress of fundraising to PTA Board.

Restaurant Nights - Part of our fundraising efforts is partnering with local restaurants and receiving a portion of proceeds from dedicated nights. We are in need of one or more volunteers to help assist with coordinating and deciding on restaurants to partner with.

Girls on the Run (GOTR)

Registration is open for the Girls on the Run program at OHES and the deadline is fast approaching! By using a curriculum that creatively integrates running with life lessons, Girls on the Run empowers girls to develop the confidence and character they need to become strong and healthy young adults.

Box Tops

We are Girl Scout Troop 2090 and we are working with the PTA to collect Box Tops this year.

We are doing this because we want to help raise money for the school for fun activities and materials for students and teachers.

You can help by clipping Box Tops, making sure they’re not expired and sending them in a baggie with your teacher’s name on it. Please send them in by October 20th.

If each student sends in just about 30 Box Tops we will make our goal of $3000! The 3 classes with the most Box Tops collected get to have a pizza party!

Thank you for your support and remember to keep saving them for the spring contest!

Girl Scout Troop 2090 (6th grade)

Kinderchor

Have fun learning German with songs.  The Kinderchor (Children's choir) sings traditional songs in German and is open to all students in 2nd - 6th grades. Please see flyer to register. 

Kinderchor is looking for a German speaking co-director to help select songs and lead rehearsals/performances. Just come and sing with the students! Hoot's Heroes

We need your support for our annual armchair fundraiser, Hoot's Heroes. Our PTA is dedicated to providing activities and services to our school community without asking our students to sell things. They are able to accomplish this through donations from our families. Please take a moment and donate today. Chess Club Registration Now Open!

The Orange Hunt Chess Club is now enrolling for our Fall session.  The club is open to all students from 2nd through 6th grade. Fall Chess Club will start Friday, September 15^th, in the school cafeteria through January 19th on Fridays from 3:30 PM to 4:45PM. See flyer for details or click here to register online.
