At this month's PTA meeting, we voted to amend the budget and increase dues. Information about both is included below. This Friday the PTA has funded a school assembly for the students. We hope they have a great time on Friday!

PTA Administrative Updates 

PTA Dues Increase Approved 

Due to increases in National PTA dues along with increasing overhead expense for OHES PTA, the PTA approved the following dues changes for next year: $10 for staff, $25 for a single membership, and $35 for a family membership.

 

PTA Budget Amendment

Thanks to a very successful Boosterthon the PTA voted to adjust this year's budget to further support the school. The PTA will support a new Hoot mascot costume for the school, purchase of books from the upcoming assembly for the library, increased allocation for mini-grants, funding for staff appreciation week, increased support for the Spring Festival and for Bike Event. Elections Announcement

Elections for the PTA Board will be held in May. The following positions are open for nomination:

  • President
  • VP1
  • VP2
  • Corresponding Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Recording Secretary

Information about the positions can be found here.

To date we have received no nominations. In order for the PTA to continue, these positions must be filled. Please contact NominatingCommittee@orangehuntpta.org if you are interested.

Orange Hunt is on a Roll... Bring your bike and helmet to the OHES Parking Lot to learn about bike safety and test out your skills on our obstacle course. This is a FREE event for students in grades K-6. Registration is required.

The Science Fair will be held on April 3rd. There will be two sessions:
6-7pm: preference for 1st-3rd graders
7:15-8:15pm: preference for 4th-6th graders

NexTrex Recycling Bench Plastic Recycling is back!
Girl Scouts are sponsoring a bench for Orange Hunt, so we are back to collecting plastic. Deposit clean and dry plastic wrap in the designated bins outside of the Cafeteria, outside Door 1 (main entrance), and Door 6 (near the playground). Only certain items are eligible, such as: grocery bags, produce bags, Ziploc bags, cereal box liners, bread bags, newspaper sleeves, plastic mailers, bubble wrap, and dry cleaning bags, etc.

Computer and Coding Club has sessions on Mondays (Roblox Game Design) and Tuesdays (Intro to CS & Coding) from 3:35-4:35.
Girls on the Run is back! GOTR will hold sessions on Mondays and Fridays from 3:30-5 beginning in March for girls in grades 3-6.
RunFit Kidz registration is now open. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in March for students in grades 1-6.
(NEW!) Sports Spectacular - Sessions will be held on Mondays from 3/17 - 5/9 for students in grades K-3. They will learn to play a variety of traditional sports and games.
Lacrosse - **Has been cancelled due to not meeting the minimum requirement. Families who have registered will be refunded.** Sessions will be held on Fridays from 3/21- 5/16 for students in grades 4-6. They will learn the basics of Lacrosse. Sticks will be provided.

Boosterthon kicks off this week!

Orange Hunt and the PTA will be hosting a Fun Run this spring to raise money for our school. Students will run laps on the field and ask for donations from friends and family for each lap they complete. The fundraiser kicks off on Thursday, March 6. Learn more

Spelling Bee Results

Congratulations to Sophia Abraham, the winner of Orange Hunt's 3rd annual spelling bee! Her champion word was “hurricane.” Sophia will now continue on to represent OHES at the Fairfax County spelling bee!

Lilia Knap and Giovanna Steele took 2nd place and 3rd place respectively.

Congratulations to all our participants for their hard work preparing for the bee. We hope to see many of you back for next year's bee!

Spelling Bee (tonight!) - 6pm

The rescheduled Orange Hunt Spelling Bee will be held tonight at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Spellers should arrive by 5:45 p.m.

Orange Hunt and the PTA will be hosting a Fun Run this spring to raise money for our school. Students will run laps on the field and ask for donations from friends and family for each lap they complete. 

The website is now open to register your student and start thinking about asking friends and family to donate on your student’s donation page at MyBooster.com. The best part is, you can still support our school just by SHARING about the fundraiser!

Students will also experience an amazing character enrichment program called “Castle Quest,” teaching students about how to be brave and live with character.

Your donations determine what types of events and goodies we can provide to the staff. In the past we have had lunches, ice cream trucks, t-shirts, and more!

Knowing how much money we have to spend helps us plan, so please consider donating now. Any amount is welcome!

6th Grade Party

6th grade parents and guardians will host a celebration for the 6th grade students at the end of the school year. 

While this is not a PTA event, the PTA is helping to coordinate volunteers. If you can help out please sign up on the volunteer sheet.

We have a lead for the SpringFest, but need a committee to support Robin getting things ready.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our successful BINGO Night! It was a great first time back in over four years!

A special shout out to our sponsor, Fox Family Dentistry, and to Eat Pizza, for the contributions to helping make BINGO Night a success.
