Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is approaching (May 6-10) and it is a wonderful time to express our appreciation to the OHES staff for their dedication and excellence!  Please see the list of planned activities below, sponsored by the PTA Hospitality Committee, to help coordinate our school-wide efforts.

MONDAY (5/6): Favorite Color Day - Please have your student wear his/her teacher’s favorite color, or OHES spirit wear (orange and blue), to show our “thanks” to the teachers! 

TUESDAY (5/7): Tasty Treats Day - Please send in a healthy snack or “treat” for your teacher on Tuesday.  Students may bring in his/her teacher’s favorite fruit, candy, crackers, cookies, etc. 

WEDNESDAY (5/8): Homemade Cards and Specials Day - All teachers treasure personal notes from their students.  We ask that your student bring in a card for his/her teacher on Wednesday. Students’ cards might include a short poem, favorite memory, drawing or sweet sentiment (“I like my teacher because…”). Be creative and homemade cards are the best!

** In addition, we do not want to forget our Specials teachers and OH staff.  Please bring in a card, snack or treat to express your gratitude to these hardworking members of our OHES community.

THURSDAY (5/9): School Supply Day - Let’s help stock our classrooms with school supplies and books!  If you are not sure what your classroom needs, just ask your room parent or teacher.

FRIDAY (5/10): Fantastic Friday - For the final day of Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to celebrate how hard all of our outstanding teachers work to make OHES such a wonderful place!  For Fantastic Friday, be creative.  You may want to consider your teacher’s favorite flower, scent, restaurant, shop, coffee/tea, etc.  

The OHES PTA will also provide the teachers and staff with lunch on Thursday to say thanks!

Kindertag Volunteers Needed

Bring your lawn chairs and watch exciting performances from The Alten Kameraden, Boyle's School of Irish Dance and our own Kinderchor. We also have fun games for the entire family, will dance around the May Pole and have free Face Painting! Box Tops Winners

Congratulations to our recent classroom winners. Mrs. Facinoli's 2nd grade class brought in the most BoxTops for February. And our March winner is Mr. Moeller's 6th grade class. Keep sending in those BoxTops! The BoxTop Trophy will visit two more classrooms before the end of the school year. 

Kindertag Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers for Kindertag / Children’s Day. Do you want to have fun directing games for the OHES kids? Do you maybe know some heritage or international games that you would like to show us and we can play together? Your are just the person we need. Kindertag is a fun fest for the OHES family, where we come together and play games from around the world. The date is May 3, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at the black top area. Acting Club Coordinator Needed

Jimmy Potter's Pottery After-School Program Registration is Now Open!

After-school Jimmy Potter’s Pottery Program is now enrolling.  The program is open to all students from K through 6th grade. It will start Thursday, April 4, in the school cafeteria through Thursday, May 30 from 3:45 PM to 4:45PM. See flyer for details and to register.

German Game Day

Orange Hunt Fencing Club  Spring 2019

Improve agility, balance, and tactical thinking at the Orange Hunt Fencing Club! Also known as “physical chess,” fencing is growing in popularity in our area and nationwide. Classes are taught by Olympic fencer Jun Liang-Smith, who has developed a program for elementary school aged children. Have fun while participating in a really cool sport! Tuesdays 3:40-4:30 p.m. in the Orange Hunt cafeteria. The next session starts on April 9, 2019, and runs through June 11, 2019. See flyer for details.
