The GMU Acting for Young People after-school program is now enrolling for Winter and Spring sessions at OHES. The program is offered in the cafeteria on Mondays at 3:45-4:45pm and is open to all students from 3rd through 6th grade. You may register for Winter, Spring, or both sessions. Global Plus Winter 2019

Offering Spanish and German classes for students in K-3th grade. Classes meet once a week on Tuesdays or Thursdays depending on grade level and language. Please see flyer for details.
The GLOBAL Plus Program is an approach to language learning that allows students to develop communicative skills, using interactive SMART board technology and other fun activities. The curriculum is designed so students taking the class in multiple years will learn new material. Classes are suitable for students beginning and students with experience speaking the language.

Hoot's Heroes - We Did It!!!!!

We have reached our goal of $8,000!!!! Thank you to everyone who has donated to Hoot's Heroes, we really appreciate your support. As a thank you for meeting our goal by the Nov. 1 deadline, there will be a school-wide dance party. Details to come.

Laternenfest - Friday, November 9th

All OHES families are invited to join us for Laternenfest on November 9th. The German tradition of Laternenfest honors the soldier, Martin,who is remembered for his good deeds and compassion towards others.
We will make lanterns, hear the story of Martin, sing traditional songs and walk with our lanterns through the neighborhood. We will reassemble back at OHES for warm Kinderpunsch and donated treats!
This is a free event, but please RSVP by Nov 7th to ensure lantern supplies and refreshments are available for all. See flyer for details.
Box Tops September Winner

The winning classroom for September is Ms. Wassel, by 1 Box Top! Her classroom submitted 301 box tops for September. Ms. Burke's class came in second with 300 box tops. September was a great collection month, and we are looking forward to another great one in October. Make sure to get those box tops expiring November 1, 2018 in by Friday Oct. 26th.
Chair Needed for German Game Days

The PTA owns a selection of German board games for students to play and practice speaking in German. This afterschool activity is scheduled 4 times throughout the year. To volunteer or for information about how to run the event contact: germanliaison@orangehuntpta.org for details.
Kinderchor
