Join the fun, and show your school spirit in this annual race against other local Springfield elementary schools. This is a free event, but we ask that you bring four cans of food to benefit Food for Others, a local food bank. The Challenge is open to all students K-6. Grades K-3 will run 1/2 mile while grades 4-6 will run 1 mile.
German Game Days
German Game Days are held periodically through the school year. This activity is open to all OHES students in Grades 1-6, but students will be expected and encouraged to communicate in German during the games. Children will play traditional German games indoors and outdoors after school in the cafeteria or at OHES grounds. RSVP is required for participation and participation is limited to 20 students.

Participation is open to all OHES students and families. Students meet in the OHES cafeteria in the evening to make their own lanterns and then parade from the school through the neighborhood singing songs with our lighted lanterns. Hot beverages and cookies are served following the parade.
A family friendly bingo night fundraiser. Two sessions are offered. Game cards will be available for pre-sale and prize donations will be collected prior to the event.

This event is held in June for our incoming German Immersion first graders. Schultueten is a tradition in Germany that each child received a cone shaped Schultuete full of little presents, school supplies, and little items they will need for school.
We welcome all types of acts - singing, dancing, gymnastics and more. Students and teachers are welcome to perform.
